2) Essence of intelligence
Intelligence is the ability to solve problems that we have never confronted before through thinking and constructing solutions in our minds. But there are many other ways to describe intelligence. In today’s world, we even form several types of intelligence. While humans possess unparalleled creative problem-solving abilities, our capacity to handle very complex problems is limited. Yet, we built organizations, structures, political systems, legal constructs and much more that have grown to a degree that has outgrown our intellectual capacity. This is where Generative AI can abstract complex problems and help us to deal with them like we deal today with gigantic numbers, can travel at 100 times the speed we can walk and lift 1,000 times and more of our own weight.
3) Will AI replace jobs?
Yes, it will. There is no question. It is the same process as in the last 500+ years. There are no more Carriage Makers, Slubber Doffers, Pin Setters, Knocker Uppers, Lamp Lighters, Switchboard Operators, and countless other jobs. We will have fewer and fewer jobs as analysts, bookkeepers, assistants, bank tellers, financial controllers, and so forth. AI will take over those and many others. HOWEVER, we need people who instruct, manage, and oversee the tasks those agents and other AI mechanisms will do. In this example, analysts lose their “job” of doing those rather mediocre, repetitive tasks and evolve into managers managing 5, 10, or more AI agents. Like always in the past, they do more in less time. That way they will deal with AI agents and create results that we can’t get today. Financial Controllers will oversee and tweak AI system results to a degree that is not even imaginable today. We will use Human Intelligence Augmentation wherever our own intelligence fades out – no matter if we have a lot or not so much of it. Every human intelligence level will benefit from that technology and advance.
What a crane did to human muscle power without touching the muscle – will AI do to the human intellectual power without touching it. The larger part of humanity will do new jobs and thrive. very much like during the industrial revolution, where we went from 80% worked in food production – today it is less than 3%.
